Kinshasa African Film Festival 1. edition

KINSHASA AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL is a leading event for the 7th art, a space for exchanges between professional and amateur filmmakers. It is an 8-day festival that celebrates world cinema, with a focus on African and Congolese films.

From Saturday 9 to Saturday 16 August 2025.

Location:
National Museum of DRC
Boulevard Triomphal, Kinshasa Lingwala

Theme:
This first edition has the theme, “Raising awareness of eco-responsibility among the population for peace”.

African Storytelling

Kinshasa African Film Festival is screening 30 films this year, including new feature films, documentaries, and short films. Most of the screenings are African premieres. The films will be screened at various venues throughout Kinshasa’s capital, primarily at the Wallonia-Brussels Centre and the green space of the DRC National Museum.

Competition

The Festival organizes a competition with “GOLDEN LEOPARD” awards for:

  • Special & Honor Prize
  • Best Feature Film
  • Best Documentary
  • Best Short Film
  • Best Director
  • Best Production
  • Best Actor
  • Actress, etc.

Winners receive certificates and trophies.

International jury

The international jury is composed of film experts (documentarians, filmmakers, actors, festival managers)

Workshops, Forums, and Industry Programs

Kinshasa African Film Festival will feature workshops and discussion forums for filmmakers. It also offers a three-day program for emerging filmmakers to promote African cinema in general and Congolese cinema in particular.

Freedom of expression

KINSHASA AFRICAN FILM FESTIVAL defends freedom of expression and freedom of creativity guaranteed by the Constitution of the Democratic Republic of Congo and campaigns for the establishment of peace in the country.
